even better photo of one of the rodarte ghost brides. no words.
ps. i saw shutter island, and as a person who is vehemently opposed to scary movies (but unable to refuse ANYthing that involves leonardo dicaprio) i thought it was really very good. i only looked away once!
this scene was absolutely beautiful.

#nyfw
for me, nyfw started a little boring, then ended pretty glorious. first of all, i'm crazy over the return to minimalist, pretty silhouettes, with a strong focus on fabrics (wools! mesh! lace! velvet!). love love loving lots of looks at jen kao, preen, cushnie et ochs, jenni kayne, shaun kearney for cynthia steffe, and peter jensen.
best styled collection was definitely rag & bone. i mean bolero ties? c'mon.

alexander wang was fabulous, of course, and i'm really into the vision he has for his line and how accessible it is to people. plus i love greasy hair, natalia vodianova, and '90's schoolgirl's.

i really loved all of the shearling lined jackets at helmut lang, but i was a little weirded out by the howling animal (christopher kane, anyone?).

rodarte was amazing. i think they so successfully presented a much softer and more etherial collection that still preserved their strong and unique point of view. forget what i said earlier about the elie saab dress, i'm all about the rodarte wedding dresses. plus, i thought the music they paired this collection with was genius.

i thought marc jacobs blew it out of the water with both collections. although he is undeniably a genius and a fantastic designer, the whole chic grandma approach sometimes borderlines on boring to me. for fall, i think it worked perfectly. this dress was my favorite, it looks like the bottom got dipped in silver sparkles.

my absolute favorite was, of course, proenza schouler. honestly, they can do no wrong. my life is not complete without owning every single pair of platforms sent down the runway.

many, many more looks of note which i will post later. for now, i'm going to go to various goodwill's in search of little girl's long forgotten about plaid pleated skirts, and knee highs. schoolgirl mode in full effect.

r.i.p
woke up to the devastating news about mr. mcqueen. truly a visionary artist, and the loss can be best described in anna wintour's words as insurmountable.

on a happier note, i spent the rest of this day baking vegan cookies, and relaxing before the craziness that will be valentine's weekend.
plus, it's the first day of fashion week! excited excited, even if i can only enjoy it via sytle.com and various people's twitters (tweets? whatever!)
